The Shutdown is Starting

I had thought about starting this sooner, but better now than never. This is my account of the Covid-19 virus shutdown that is taking place. I’ve been really busy, possibly too busy, to write this down until now, but here we are at home for the foreseeable future.

I’ve spent the past three or four weeks preparing. I seem to follow the news more carefully than most, so I saw the virus coming, accumulating like storm clouds in what had started out as a sunny day. First I bought some paper goods, and fortunately avoided the great paper panic that later ensued. I bought canned Chef Boyardee spaghetti, many boxes of dried pasta, a dozen cans of tuna, forty pounds of rice, cereal, crackers, and bread. Another trip concentrated on frozen foods, several large bags of broccoli, four or five bags of spinach, and several bags of ravioli. I replenished our supply of medicine stocking up on Advil, Nyquil, and Sudafed. Still, I think of new things every day and wonder if I failed in any areas. We don’t have a lot of hand sanitizer and masks. However, our plan is to mostly stay put.
